We pack each delivery with insulation and 5-10lbs of dry ice. During warmer months it is not uncommon for the dry ice to fully dissolve when you receive it. This isn’t anything to worry about as long as the items are still cold to the touch when you receive them. Anything you received is totally fine to be refrozen and safe to reheat and eat as long as it wasn't warm when it arrived.
How do I dispose the packaging properly?
Our items are packed in cardboard boxes that can be broken down and recycled with your other paper products. Our insulation is also recyclable and can be put out with paper.
Here's how to handle dry ice after unpacking your order: leave it in the box in an open, well-ventilated area. If you're able to place it outside or in a garbage room, that's even better. It will evaporate within 24 hours (likely far more quickly). Please be careful with the dry ice packaging, which is made of plastic. Pick it up carefully by the tip and throw it into the recycling bin.
Do I have to put everything into the freezer immediately after my order is delivered?
You don't have to be home to sign for or accept your delivery, but all orders should be refrigerated or frozen as soon as possible.
Can I give Ipsa as a gift?
Ipsa makes an amazing gift for those who live in our delivery area. You can check our site to see if we deliver to the customers state. If you want to see if we deliver to the recipients zip code, you can see that after adding a few items to cart and see if you are able to schedule a delivery to that zipcode. We offer two ways to give ipsa.
Do you have gift cards?
Send a Gift Card by clicking on the denomination you would like to send. All of our gift cards are sent digitally. From here, you can enter the recipient info with a note (don’t forget to say who it’s from!) and the date you’d like to have it sent. We’ll handle the rest. If you’d like to send the gift card yourself, simply leave this area blank and add the denomination to your cart. We will send you the gift card for you to forward onto your recipient.
Can I send an order to a loved one?
You can select one of our curated bundles to send or create an order a la carte. In the cart, you’ll see an area to enter your gift note text. The gift note will be printed on the packing slip box when the order is packed and we will include a discount for the recipients next order!
Why frozen?
It turns out there’s no better way to preserve the things we value most in food–like taste, nutrition, and seasonality–than the humble freezer. But most of what you’ll find in the frozen aisle is mediocre at best. That’s not the freezer’s fault. Instead, it’s due to a lack of imagination and palate on the part of the (mostly giant) companies that produce the food. You have to love food to make food people love.
How big are you dishes?
All of our dishes come in 2-3 serving portions. Why? We think food is best when it’s shared (or as leftovers). Most of our dishes come in trays for oven-ready dishes or pouches for soups and stews. Cookies come loose in a pack of 8 in a pouch as well. The trays are approximately 8.75”x6”x1.75”. Our pouches are typically 10.5” x 8.25” with a small variance depending on the dish.
Our packaging is designed to fit compactly in your freezer and stack neatly. We recommend having 5-10 Ipsa items in your freezer based on your freezer size.
How do I prepare Ipsa?
Instructions for each meal are printed directly on the package. For baked items, we recommend placing those directly in the oven and bake according to the temperature and time on the package. Because oven temperatures vary, we recommend testing the internal temperature with a knife to make sure the dish is heated through to your liking.
Soups and stews should be “slacked” overnight in the fridge when possible. This cuts the cooking time down significantly! Once the dish is defrosted, pour into a saucepan and cook according to package instructions. If a dish is looking a little thick add water a tablespoon at a time.
How do I make Ipsa dishes shine?
We highly recommend seasoning your dishes to taste. We believe that everything tastes a little better with some added freshness. We encourage you to get creative with whatever you have on hand to brighten up your dish. A squeeze of lemon or some fresh-chopped parsley goes a long way!
I have a food allergy. Are Ipsa dishes safe for me to eat?
The short answer is yes, you should be in good shape if the ingredients in the dishes you are interested in do not contain the allergens you are looking to avoid. We also recommend checking the ingredient listing on the individual dishes themselves, just to double check before you reheat the dishes in question.
That said, it is important to point out that while our food is produced in a certified commercial kitchen according to all applicable food safety regulations, the facility is not certified gluten-free. Wheat, nuts, and other ingredients are used in the kitchen. As a result, while we take every precaution possible to avoid cross-contamination, we cannot guarantee that even those of our dishes made without nuts, beans, sesame, dairy, wheat or other allergens are completely free of those ingredients. Put simply, it is not possible to be 100% certain that a dish is free of a particular allergen even though that ingredient is not used to make the dish.
Do you have nutritional information on your products?
We offer nutritional information at eatipsa.com/pages/nutrition. Because all of our items are made and portioned by hand, the nutritional information is subject to some deviation of what you see.
